With a lap time of 2 minutes and 9.944 seconds, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra surpassed the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT and set a new record. The lap was conducted under strict mass-production vehicle inspection criteria, ensuring the credibility of the achievement.
Xiaomi confirmed that all components, including the tires, were in full compliance with factory specifications. The lap timing was measured using the same official system used in Formula 1, guaranteeing maximum accuracy.
The person behind this record-setting lap was Ren Zhoucan, the head of Xiaomi EV’s dynamic development. With extensive experience in vehicle dynamics, Ren played a crucial role in pushing the SU7 Ultra to its limits on the track.
Beyond its record in Shanghai, the SU7 Ultra has showcased its capabilities on a global scale—particularly at the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife. Xiaomi’s prototype completed a lap on the iconic German circuit in 6 minutes and 46.874 seconds, outperforming the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT’s previous best time of 7 minutes and 7.55 seconds.
With three motors generating a total of 1140 kW, the SU7 Ultra can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 1.97 seconds, reaching a top speed of over 350 km/h. To ensure safety during testing, a roll cage was installed, which slightly increased the vehicle's weight.
Xiaomi plans to officially launch the SU7 Ultra in mainland China by the end of February. While the initial focus is on the Chinese market, the company has hinted at possible international expansion, solidifying its position as a major competitor in the high-performance electric vehicle segment.
