A$AP Rocky was acquitted on February 18 of firearm assault charges by the Los Angeles court. The rapper, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, had faced the possibility of prison after Terell ‘Relli’ Ephron, a former friend and collaborator, accused him of shooting him during a dispute in Hollywood in November 2021.

Amidst cheers and emotional reactions, A$AP Rocky ran to embrace his family and his girlfriend, Rihanna, who had stood by his side throughout the entire legal process.

"Thank you all for saving my life. Thank you. Thank you all. You are making the right decision," the artist said, addressing the jury after the verdict was read.

The prosecution relied on Ephron’s testimony, claiming that Mayers fired at him, grazing his hand. However, the weapon was never recovered, a crucial factor in the case. The defense argued that it was a prop gun loaded with blanks, a version consistent with Rocky’s statements.

Had he been convicted, A$AP Rocky could have faced up to 24 years in prison. His acquittal brings an end to a case that had kept fans on edge for months.
